Student Housing

The AIA Rome Center offers reliable, safe, clean and convenient housing for program students. As educators we know that long commutes, uncomfortable housing and delayed maintenance is a distraction from academic performance. We try to offer the best possible combination of size, location, comfort and cost. The result is simple,  quality lodging offered only through trusted management agents. Exact housing type, location and amenities will vary based on client interests and time of booking.

Group Apartments

Student apartments will include comfortable shared bedrooms and baths, linens and towels, a furnished common living/dining space, an equipped kitchen, a washing machines/facilities, clothes drying racks, and Wi-Fi internet access. Single rooms may be available on request. Furnishings and decor are practical, easy to maintain, yet comfortable and suitable to student residents. Utilities are included in rent. Weekly cleaning of bathrooms and common spaces, satellite TV, and doorman services are available in many group housing locations. Request a housing flyer for additional information.

Housing is always conveniently located to our facilities and/or city sites. It is easily reached by walking or public transportation. Most students live no more than 20 minutes walking distance from their classroom. Student housing is located in residential areas convenient to stores, restaurants and other services, and we try to avoid apartments in noisy tourist areas. Students receive a neighborhood map indicating nearby stores, services and public transportation, etc..

Independent Flats

For students with families, AIA can also provide smaller, independent apartments in residential buildings. Exact availability and prices will be determined upon request. Basic furnishing, utensils, towels and linens are included. Apartment layouts, additional amenities, services and locations will vary.

Housing contracts and deposits

Student housing fees are typically paid directly through home universities. For long stays each resident must sign an AIA housing contract, and pay a modest, refundable damage deposit (typically about €225). After damages have been assessed, deposits are typically refunded directly to individual students by US check.

Faculty Housing

Faculty housing is arranged on a case-by-case basis to serve the specific needs of individual faculty members such as spouses, children, additional workspace, location, etc.

AIA provides faculty housing in residential areas close to facilities. Faculty apartments are comfortably furnished, include linens and towels, a kitchen with utensils, a washing machine, clothes drying racks, and Wi-Fi internet access. Final cleaning fee and utilities are included. AIA can arrange for a weekly cleaning service upon request. AIA will try to accommodate special housing requests, while offering the best possible combination of size, location, comfort and cost.

Faculty housing pricing is based on a per-person, per-period rate according to specific program dates. Final price will also depend on special requests for additional days, guests/spouses or additional rooms, services, amenities, etc.
